The postgraduation studies of Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance started in 2021-2022 in Sree Siddaganga College of Pharmacy, fosters education and research in the relevant areas of quality assurance for undergraduate, postgraduate and research students.  

The department is equipped with state-of-art laboratories, modern facilities, and competent eligible staffs. The department offers opportunities for students to enhance their theoretical and practical skills. Students are allowed to undergo hands-on training in handling instrumentations and related algorithmic softwares.

Definition and Scope of Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance

The M. Pharm Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance program is specifically designed to address the growing demands of the pharmaceutical industry, research organizations, and academic institutions. It places special emphasis on quality management systems and regulatory submissions, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to uphold and enhance pharmaceutical quality standards in various professional settings

Objective

To prepare the students to be knowledgeable, technically competent, industry-ready quality professionals through value-added rigorous training.

Scope

This course is designed to convey the knowledge necessary to understand tools they need to succeed and offers several opportunities to find a job at reputable organizations.

Curriculum & Courses Offered.

Course Work: 

The course is designed to address the needs of the industry along with a keen emphasis on the scientific advancement of the field. It includes various aspects of Quality Assurance and related documentation, regulatory affairs, training, and analysis on advanced equipment. The course of study shall extend over a period of four semesters.

  • In fourth semester of the M. Pharm program, students select a specific research topic and complete projects in a designated innovative field, either in academia or in the industry.

Research

The department has obtained various research grants from the University and government agencies. A number of research articles are published in peer-reviewed indexed journals every year. The department has manifested its importance in research activities and also it has a good collaboration.

On-going Research Projects- 01 [Grant amount: 4.00 Lakhs]

  1. Dr. Prashanthi D and Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur has received grant amount of 4.00 Lakhs for the project entitled “QbD paradigm for the development and validation of RP-HPLC method for the drugs used in the treatment of pulmonary disorders: Assessment of the green and whiteness of the optimized method” under RGUHS Research Grant Scheme-2024 funded by RGUHS, Bangalore.   1. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Research Guide to Chinthan S B, 6th Sem B.   3. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as co-investigator in the project entitled “Bioactivity-guided evaluation of Cleistocalyx operculatus on allergy and associated inflammation using various in-vitro, and in-vivo models” under RGUHS Research Grant Scheme-2018 funded by RGUHS, Bangalore, Grant amount: 4.00 Lakhs.   1. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal-investigator in the project entitled “Design, Synthesis, Molecular docking and dynamic studies of Chromium complexes against inflammatory targets: In vitro and In vivo studies” under RGUHS Research Grant Scheme-2017 funded by RGUHS, Bangalore, Grant amount: 5.50 Lakhs.   2. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal-investigator in the project entitled “Design and Synthesis of Thiazolidinediones (TZD) and Non-TZD derivatives to ameliorate the diabetes and its cardiovascular complications” under AICTE CAREER AWARD FOR YOUNG TEACHERS (CAYT) for the Year 2009- 2010, funded by AICTE, Govt. of India, Grant amount: 10.50 Lakhs.   3. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal co-investigator in the Project entitled “Herbal Drug Research” to establish “Centre of Excellence in Herbal Drug Development” under Establishment of Centers of Excellence in Science, Engineering and Medicine (CESEM), funded by VGST, DST, Govt. of Karnataka, Grant amount: 60 Lakhs.   4. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal-investigator in the project entitled “Wound healing activity of spider web in diabetes condition” under Science Projects in College Education (SPiCE) for the year 2011-12, funded by VGST, DST, Govt. of Karnataka, Grant amount: 0.3 Lakhs.
