Overview

The postgraduation studies of Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance started in 2021-2022 in Sree Siddaganga College of Pharmacy, fosters education and research in the relevant areas of quality assurance for undergraduate, postgraduate and research students.  

The department is equipped with state-of-art laboratories, modern facilities, and competent eligible staffs. The department offers opportunities for students to enhance their theoretical and practical skills. Students are allowed to undergo hands-on training in handling instrumentations and related algorithmic softwares.

Definition and Scope of Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance

The M. Pharm Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance program is specifically designed to address the growing demands of the pharmaceutical industry, research organizations, and academic institutions. It places special emphasis on quality management systems and regulatory submissions, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to uphold and enhance pharmaceutical quality standards in various professional settings

Objective

To prepare the students to be knowledgeable, technically competent, industry-ready quality professionals through value-added rigorous training.

Scope

This course is designed to convey the knowledge necessary to understand tools they need to succeed and offers several opportunities to find a job at reputable organizations.

Career opportunities in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance

Curriculum & Courses Offered.

Course Work: 

The course is designed to address the needs of the industry along with a keen emphasis on the scientific advancement of the field. It includes various aspects of Quality Assurance and related documentation, regulatory affairs, training, and analysis on advanced equipment. The course of study shall extend over a period of four semesters.

  • In fourth semester of the M. Pharm program, students select a specific research topic and complete projects in a designated innovative field, either in academia or in the industry.

Worked as HOST SCIENTIST and supervised the research work of Mr. Mabozou Kpemissi from University of Lome, Togo, West Africa under “C V Raman International Fellowship for African Research: Doctoral Fellowship” sanctioned by DST through FICCI, Government of India. Duration: 16th March 2018 to 15th Aug., 2018. Grant amount: 2.85 Lakhs.
  4. Received “BEST POSTER AWARD (2nd PRIZE)” for the poster entitled “Molecular docking and dynamic studies of Chromium (D-Phenyl alanine)3 using NF-B: In silico and in vivo studies” during 21st APTI Annual National Convention (Golden Jubilee of APTI) APTICON-2016 held at MCOPS, Manipal University, Manipal, 14th -16th Oct., 2016. Research

The department has obtained various research grants from the University and government agencies. A number of research articles are published in peer-reviewed indexed journals every year. The department has manifested its importance in research activities and also it has a good collaboration.

On-going Research Projects- 01 [Grant amount: 4.00 Lakhs]

  1. Dr. Prashanthi D and Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur has received grant amount of 4.00 Lakhs for the project entitled “QbD paradigm for the development and validation of RP-HPLC method for the drugs used in the treatment of pulmonary disorders: Assessment of the green and whiteness of the optimized method” under RGUHS Research Grant Scheme-2024 funded by RGUHS, Bangalore. Duration: 2 years (April 2025 to April 2027). Project Code: 24PHA320.

Research Grant Completed- 06 [Total grant amount: 80.90 Lakhs]

  1. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Research Guide to Chinthan S B, 6th Sem B. Pharm student for the project entitled “Eco-friendly RP-HPLC method development and validation of Posaconazole in bulk and marketed formulation” under RGUHS UG Research Project for the year 2024-25 funded by RGUHS, Bangalore, Grant amount: 0.15 Lakhs.   2. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Research Guide to Mr. Charan C in the project entitled “Efficiency of herbal products for the removal of fluoride content in groundwater of Tumkur District” under RGUHS UG Research Project for the year 2022-23 funded by RGUHS, Bangalore, Grant amount: 0.15 Lakhs.   3. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as co-investigator in the project entitled “Bioactivity-guided evaluation of Cleistocalyx operculatus on allergy and associated inflammation using various in-vitro, and in-vivo models” under RGUHS Research Grant Scheme-2018 funded by RGUHS, Bangalore, Grant amount: 4.00 Lakhs. Duration: 2 years (May 2019 to May 2021). Project Code: 18P017.

  1. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal-investigator in the project entitled “Design, Synthesis, Molecular docking and dynamic studies of Chromium complexes against inflammatory targets: In vitro and In vivo studies” under RGUHS Research Grant Scheme-2017 funded by RGUHS, Bangalore, Grant amount: 5.50 Lakhs. Duration: 2 years (March 2018 to March 2020). Project Code: 17P010.

  2. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal-investigator in the project entitled “Design and Synthesis of Thiazolidinediones (TZD) and Non-TZD derivatives to ameliorate the diabetes and its cardiovascular complications” under AICTE CAREER AWARD FOR YOUNG TEACHERS (CAYT) for the Year 2009- 2010, funded by AICTE, Govt. of India, Grant amount: 10.50 Lakhs. Duration: 3 years (June 2010 to March 2013). Sanctioned letter  1-51/RID/CA/18/2009- 10 dated 01/06/2010.

  3. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal co-investigator in the Project entitled “Herbal Drug Research” to establish “Centre of Excellence in Herbal Drug Development” under Establishment of Centers of Excellence in Science, Engineering and Medicine (CESEM), funded by VGST, DST, Govt. of Karnataka, Grant amount: 60 Lakhs. Duration: 3 years (May 2010 to May 2013). Sanctioned letter  VGST/PRGM/CESM-1/09-10/109 dated 04-05-2010.

  4. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal-investigator in the project entitled “Wound healing activity of spider web in diabetes condition” under Science Projects in College Education (SPiCE) for the year 2011-12, funded by VGST, DST, Govt. of Karnataka, Grant amount: 0.3 Lakhs.   5. Dr. Veeresh P. Veerapur worked as Principal-investigator in the project entitled “Anti-oxidant and wound healing property of spider web based on ethnomedical claim” under Science Projects in College Education (SPiCE) / (SSP-UG) for the year 2010-11, funded by VGST, DST, Govt. of Karnataka, Grant amount: 0.3 Lakhs.
